National Defense Services Provider: Administrative Process Improvement and Velocity Initiative

Industry: Services

Challenge

  • Personnel and budget reduction initiatives within this National Defense Services Provider were requiring each organization to function as effectively and efficiently as possible. However, successive cuts, realignments and re-organizations (not necessarily synchronized) created less than optimal systems and structures.
  • The client’s Chief Executive was looking for a method to balancing personnel and budget reduction initiatives with a greater demand for process efficiency and operational velocity

Approach

  • Transform proposed utilizing Lean Six Sigma methods focused on creating a “right-sized,” effective, and efficient operation having maximum impact with fully utilized resources
  • By implementing process improvements focused on increased productivity for targeted back-room functions and technology solutions to accelerate customer-facing operations, the client would be able to reduce its back-room personnel/process dependency and shift towards a higher velocity, customer-facing organization

Results

  • The value of this initiative enabled the client to quickly adjust assets – resources, processes and systems - according to operational and cost considerations, while increasing the velocity and penetration of its customer-facing operations

    Primary Solution:

    High-Performance Architecture

    Secondary Solution:
